Tea for Two

Before my daughter left for the East Coast where she’ll be starting grad school in September – yah! We headed to The Tea Room Cafe on Western Street in downtown Petaluma. No it’s not Jacqueline’s Tea Room, which is across the street and down a block,  and it’s not really all about drinking tea, if you take their name literally. This cozy breakfast, lunch cafe is similar to Della Fattoria on the Blvd, the wait can be long but the food is worth it. I had the grilled cheese with heirloom tomato slices. My daughter had the BLT and we shared an additional quinoa, corn and feta salad. What makes the sandwiches outstanding(besides the quooey chedder) is the bread, thick cut, artisan bread and with my grilled cheese that meant beautifully brown, buttered and crisp – oh so crisp. And the quinoa salad was yummy with the sprinkles of feta and the corn, both sweet and savory tasting at the same time. Order at the counter, get a number and then you go snag a table – 1,2,3. On weekends it can be crowded for breakfast and the late lunch we had was at 2pm so we had the place almost to ourselves. Enjoy!
